How to remove lock screen image

We will see here how to remove lock screen image with group policy.

I do it mainly on servers to improve lock screen connection on slow internet access.

Important to note is that it works with Windows Server or Windows 10 Enterprise / LTSC only.

Edit Local Group Policy

  • Open Local Group Policy Editor
Run gpedit.msc
  • Go to Computer Configuration > Administrative Templates > Control Panel > Personalization

  • Edit Force a specific default lock screen and logon image and set a fake image location.
